Yoshi Wada Sound Ship Upon Tyne 2012

AV Festival 2012

Once again ArtAV provided technical management to the AV Festival in Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland and Middlesbrough which ran for the whole of March 2012.

This years theme was “As slow as possible” and included exhibitions from James Benning, John Gerrard, Susan Stenger , Jem Finer and Yoshi Wada and performances from Phill Niblock, Leif Inge, Steven Stapleton and Wishful Thinking which includes the premiere of three performance sketches with Peter Christopherson‘s original collaborators for the commission: visual artist Alex Rose, sound recordist Chris Watson and vocalist Attila Csihar.

Special guests Chris Carter and Cosey Fanni Tutti premiere live remixes from Throbbing Gristle’s nascent, and final, studio album: a ‘cover’ of Nico’s Desertshore, preceded by a rare screening of Philippe Garrel’s The Inner Scar for which Desertshore was soundtrack and inspiration.

As well as technical management ArtAv provided installation crew and equipment from full HD synced playback systems to HD projection with edge blending, and multi channel audio systems to large PA for the performances.
